Movement coaching for the body, brain, and nervous system.
Movement is not just mechanics. It is signal, rhythm, and connection. RolandLab helps people living with Parkinson’s, neurological movement challenges, injury-related dysfunction, and movement limitations rebuild strength, coordination, confidence, and connection through in-person integrated movement coaching.
The RolandLab philosophy
Movement training beyond mechanics.
Movement is often treated like a purely physical problem: stretch this, strengthen that, correct the form, repeat the exercise.
But movement is shaped by more than muscles. It is shaped by the brain, nervous system, emotion, attention, fear, rhythm, memory, confidence, environment, and lived experience.
RolandLab works with movement as a whole-person system. The goal is not only to train the body, but to help each person rebuild the communication, confidence, and awareness that support how they move through life.
Learn the approachWho I work with
For people whose movement has changed.
RolandLab is for people navigating Parkinson’s, neurological movement challenges, movement disorders, injury-related dysfunction, balance issues, coordination changes, and movement limitations.
Some people come because their movement has become slower, less steady, less coordinated, or less predictable. Others come because they have lost confidence in their body after injury, diagnosis, aging, or years of compensation.
Wherever the change began, the work starts with understanding the person in front of us: how they move, what they feel, what they fear, what they want back, and what they are ready to rebuild.

The RolandLab approach
Movement is shaped by more than muscle.
Strength matters. Balance matters. Coordination matters. But movement also depends on timing, attention, regulation, emotional state, rhythm, confidence, and how the nervous system organizes action.
RolandLab uses integrated movement coaching to work with these layers together.
Body
Strength, mobility, balance, posture, gait, coordination, and physical capacity.
Brain
Attention, learning, patterning, rhythm, motor planning, and adaptation.
Nervous System
Signal, timing, regulation, confidence, emotional response, and the ability to organize movement under real-life conditions.
Founder-led coaching
A coach with the curiosity of a researcher and the eye of a movement artist.
Shawn Roland is an integrated movement coach, movement artist, and independent researcher with a deep fascination for the brain, nervous system, and human movement.
His work is shaped by years of coaching, training, self-directed study, movement exploration, and a belief that movement is never only physical. It is neurological, emotional, expressive, adaptive, and personal.
At RolandLab, Shawn works directly with clients through in-person coaching designed to meet the person where they are, understand their current movement challenges, and build a path forward with intelligence, creativity, and care.
About ShawnThe first step
Start with a consultation.
Every person arrives with a different story, body, condition, history, and relationship to movement.
The consultation is a chance for Shawn to understand where you are now, what you are experiencing, and what kind of support may make sense. It is also a chance for you to meet Shawn, ask questions, and decide whether RolandLab feels like the right fit.
This first step is not about rushing into a program. It is about beginning with clarity, conversation, and connection.
Clear about the work.
Shawn is not a physiotherapist or medical provider. RolandLab does not diagnose, treat, or replace medical care.
RolandLab offers integrated movement coaching, movement education, and training support designed to complement each person’s broader care, goals, and lived experience.
